Kaitawa Thank you letter

after camp we wanted to thank the parents that came to camp with us so we have been writing a thank you letter over the past week and we are going to give them to the parents so they are thanked. here is one of three that I have done, as an example.

Dear Steven

First I’d like to thank you for giving up your time and energy for a week and coming to camp with us and having fun and supervising us.

My first highlight is caving because we had to do a challenge and that challenge was to not get your shoes dirty because the end cave’s floor was covered in bat poo. so instead of walking through it we had to try not to fall of the walls into it and shimmy across the walls. I also liked caving because i had to be brave and crawl through gaps and tunnels and try not to think about spiders and wetas.

Another highlight was kayaking because Lyric and I were together and when we started we were not in time but until we figured out what way each other were going then we managed to get our rhythm. One other thing I liked about kayaking was when we got stuck in the weed and couldn't get out so we had to struggle our way out by back paddling (going backwards) to get out of the trees and weed.

My last highlight was walking the hinerau track because it took forever and also I enjoyed the scenery of the trees and plants covering the dirt. I also liked it because of the scenery when we got up to the top of the mountain because the lake was clear water. I also enjoyed watching the stupid challenge. The stupid challenge is when you have to go into water waist depth and stay in the freezing cold water for 45 seconds. But I did not do it because i’m not stupid.

One interesting fact is that camp kaitawa used to be a school but it shut down because hardly anyone went their because it is such a small area.

Inventing Tenting/Maths

for maths this week I have had to chose a tent out of tent a,b,c,d and e. I chose tent c. tent c was a half of a cylinder with 5 faces the base, the 2 sides and the 2 front peices.

The dark sky raged over us as night fell. I was getting ready for bed when mum said “You can read” “Thanks mum” I replied as I was walking into my room. I jumped onto my bed as if it was a trampoline and then I picked up my favorite book off my bed side table. I opened it up and started reading. As I was reading I started to feel like I was the character, just then I noticed I was in my imagination.

I walked through the flower bed as I realised everything was Really Really colourful. I knew I was in another world. The sky was bright blue with pink clouds that looked like fluffy candyfloss. As I was walking around I saw a figure it looked like a big building , I ran as fast as my legs could go, It looked like a stable a horse stable . I ran to it and saw the most beautiful thing ever it was completely white and had a rainbow mane and tail, it had big long legs and big blue eyes as blue as the sky, she was my dream horse. Also the stables were a magical place with a big two story house with a picket fence next to it. Then I went into the stables and grabbed one of the saddles and some reins, I quickly tacked her up and then I put my foot into the stirrup. I hopped up onto her back and she took off , she was heading for a cliff and the other side was far away, she was going to jump.

“I'm going to come in and say goodnight” shouted mum as she walked down the hall heading for jorgias room. I stopped reading and waited for her to come into my room for a hug. After a couple of minutes mum came in, “can I read for a bit longer” I asked as she backed away after a hug. “yes but i’m not going to come back in she announced “ok mum” I said as she hurried out of my room back to the tv. Then I started reading again and went back into my book.

I felt a shiver go down my spine as she was gaining speed, I was so so scared. I knew she was not going to make it,  I could feel it. It was so frightening that I wondered if this was going to be my day of death. We were very near to the edge of the cliff, I was horrified, why was she doing this?To kill me or something? What  am I going to do I can't just jump off her back. Woah!!!!! She’s jumping. I closed my eyes and waited all I could feel was the wind blowing in my hair. I felt a thump!!!! Ohh my I’m at the bottom of the cliff aren't I. I opened my eyes I was soooo amazed I was actually laughing, I’m at the other side. But this place is magical, also beautiful and there is more of her kind

“Its time to stop reading tia” yelled mum “ok mum” I yelled back as I was closing my book. I gently put my book down on my bedside table. After that I got out of my bed, turned out my light and then got back into my bed. then I snuggled down and went off to sleep, Goodnight.

“Get into your fluffy pink bed bella it's time to sleep”  urged mum.

‘Ok mum’ I thought to myself. Clambering into my pink warm fluffy bed, I  curled up into a ball and drifted into my favorite dreams, chasing birds which is my favourite meal.

Yay its morning. Time to get up and have breakfast. I went into the kitchen to see my mum she wasn't there perhaps she hasn't got out of bed yet. I ran to her room there she is still fast asleep I should wake her hehehe. I jumped up on to the bed and ran to her face I licked it, still not awake I licked again she is waking up I got up and ran out of the room back into my bed so it wasn't that suspicious. She got up and walked to the kitchen she said breakfast time bella and gave me my breakfast , OH NO her hair went in her face. Im in trouble I thought as she wiped it out of her face. ahhhhhhhhhh she screamed as I quickly scampered out of the cat flap. I ran up the driveway and across the road  to our neighbors house luckily they have a animal “a bunny” I love to chase it.

I ran to the cage and unlocked it. This is my favorite activity of the day and it has just started. As I was chasing the poor innocent bunny I heard the back door open, they saw me I quickly stopped what I was doing and once again ran out the driveway but this time i'm going to my best friend Ellie's house, she lives in the long thin alleyway beside the smelly place what my owner calls the rubbish dump I don't know why she calls it that, I ran and ran suddenly I stopped I could smell something sniff sniff it smells like …….. Sausages, I was starving  it does not help that I did not have breakfast this morning, I ran into the sweet smell of glorious sausages, After about 10 minutes of searching for the sausages finally found them. OH NO they were being guarded by a man dressed in a sausage. When he wasn't looking I dived into the humongous crate of sweet sweet sausages. I got out of the crate as the  sausage man swept his giant hand at me I just escaped as he was sprinting towards me so I quickly scampered  into the dark thin alleyway I was finally here after a lot of running away, I went into Ellie's house and told her all about it.



"I'm surprised your still alive" announced Ellie as I was catching my breath. Ellie offered me a cat biscuit. " No thanks" I said under my breath, after a while I got my breath back and Ellie said her biscuits were home made but I did not believe her cause you can only get them from the giant shelf in the building down the road. Finally I left Ellie's house and started to head home when I thought maybe I could make it to one more place before I go home to my angry owner so I went down the opposite st to Ellie's and went to my 2nd best friends house and his name is Jasper the black, grey and white cat. Jasper was a little bit scary because he hisses and scratches but he was not treated properly by his owner, thats why he ran away. So I carryed on going to his house, he lives in the old creepy ally way by the old haunted house. I felt a bit anxious when I walked throuh the alley way.

I got there about 2.00 then clawed the door to let him know i'm here he opened the door and hissed he said "go away Bella". I said I would like to have a bowl of milk with you he said go away and hissed. So I finally started heading back home to my angry owner.

I finally got to my doorstep and walked slowly in the cat flap and looked left and right to see if my owner was there. She was not there I looked in the lounge there she was looking very angry. I walked in she looked at me then stomped over to me with her giant feet smashing against the ground. she picked me up and lock me in the carry cage. well that's a awesome way to end the day I thought to myself because I was home safe and could curl up in the uncomfortable carry cage.
